Just because (37)

Just Because 37 - you are my sunshine (ombre) - sunny yellow - 8x10 - Sprik SpaceLately, one of Connor’s favorite phrases to say is “Do it again!”  It’s a great way to guarantee a fit of giggles as long as whatever you’re repeating gets sillier and sillier!

After singing “You Are My Sunshine” to him for the umpteenth time in a half hour, it dawned on me that although I had done portions of the song as printables (1 & 2), I had never worked up the first line of the song.  I’ve also had ombre on the brain recently, too.  :)

So I’ve “done it again”… it’s another printable for you in the Just Because Series!

Just Because 37 - you are my sunshine (ombre)

This time around, the printable is available sized as an 8x10 in a whopping 25 colorways!

To download the 8x10 image(s) for printing, simply click on either image in this post, and a new window will open to the download locations in 4shared.  Save the image(s) to your computer, and they’re yours!  Just print it out yourself, or upload to your photo printer of choice.

Alphabet Mosaic

We’re still brainstorming ideas for the walls in our dining room Connor’s playroom… yup, we started this project way back in January – the furniture and toys are all in place, the walls were painted, but nothing is hung on them… yet.  I know I want to put some sort of alphabet print (and goodness knows I’ve worked up several!) over his little reading corner, but I’m having trouble deciding which way I want to go.

Connor’s also at the stage of spotting and pointing out logos and letters everywhere we go, so in brainstorming ideas for a new ABC print, I immediately thought of Leo Reynolds.  I first became familiar with his amazing Flickr photostream after I saw this project last year, and I ended up creating our own name sign for the collage wall, plus several more for family members last Christmas.  Using his images is such a fun, unique, and funky way to create word “art”.

So, I thought I would design a bright and colorful alphabet mosaic… since that’s how Connor’s playroom is turning out to be.  You’ve guessed it – I’m gonna share!  :)

Alphabet Mosaic - 11x14 - Sprik Space

This time around, the printable is available in 4 different sizes – 5x7, 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20!

The Nursery Series

Have you seen this commercial for YoBaby Yogurt?  I see it frequently on Sprout right now, and I have a very hard time getting it out of my head each time it airs.  They play the first lines of 3 different nursery songs, all sung in the same key…

So, guess what happened!  Naturally, I had it in my head when I sat down to design a new printable series.  :)

I decided to highlight 4 nursery songs for this series:  “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “This Little Light of Mine”, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, and “Hush Little Baby”.  I designed these printables so that they could easily be hung in a grouping together, piece-meal solo, or even as part of a collage wall.  I’m offering them in 2 different STYLES – gray text with a graphic [1], and white text without a graphic [2].  I honestly couldn’t decide which way I liked them better!  These are also all sized at 8x10s (big enough to see on the wall, small enough to not scream at you).  ;)

I really hope you like this series!

Surprise! We’re Pregnant! Poem

Nope, not an announcement from us!  Would be nice, but…

One of the really fun parts of finding out you’re pregnant is surprising your parents with the news.  I didn’t write this poem, but I’ve seen several variations of it all around the internets.  I decided to work it up as a simple printable for you!

These are sized at 4x6, perfect for framing or including in a card or gift box.  Just choose the one that corresponds to your due date – there’s a download available for each month, January-December (the blank line is filled in with the month).

PG Poem

"Welcome to Holland"

I first shared this essay on the blog 2 years ago, while Connor was still in the NICU.  At that point in time, we were almost to the halfway point of our stay… Connor had doubled his birthweight and was finally just over 4 pounds; he had also survived 1 emergency surgery (with 2 more to follow in the coming weeks).

The first couple of months during our NICU experience, I found myself grieving… not because I had lost a baby, but because I had missed out on the experience I had hoped for in having a baby.  (Does that make sense?)  My pregnancy, for the first 25 weeks, had been textbook.  No complications whatsoever, mild morning sickness and discomfort, I was even under the expected weight gain to that point.  So naturally, my head was in the clouds – imagining what his “birth”day would be like… in March, not December.  I wasn’t planning on an emergency c-section at almost 27 weeks, and I certainly wasn’t planning on a roller coaster 120-day NICU stay, either.

Don’t get me wrong – I count my blessings every day that Connor is such a miracle… such a fighter… and that he is doing unbelievably and remarkably well, all things considered.  I know that we are one of the lucky ones in regards to premature birth, and I don’t take that lightly, or without immense gratitude.  We came away from our NICU experience with a wonderful new family – full of amazing doctors, nurses, therapists, support staff, and fellow NICU parents – that we would have never gotten the chance to know, had Connor’s “birth”day been normal.

I originally found this essay on a blog written by a fellow NICU mom (and now imaginary friend), Megan, about her miracle sons Crew and Dex.  The author of “Welcome to Holland” is Emily Perl Kingsley – a writer for Sesame Street since 1970, who penned the essay after her son, Jason, was born with Down’s Syndrome in 1974.

Since our time in the NICU, I’ve forwarded this essay to many people, those struggling with unmet expectations for how their births went, how they’ve ended up in the NICU, or how they’ve found themselves a parent of a special needs child.  I turned it into a printable, with the thought that it could be easily passed along to others in need.

Just because (34)

I saw this graphic on Pinterest the other day and fell in love with its simplicity and sweet message.  I scoured the internets for over an hour, trying to find someone to attribute it to, but came up empty handed.  This was definitely a phrase/graphic that I wanted to display in my home!

So, I changed it up just a little… for the place I plan to use it (Connor’s playroom), I wanted it in different colors and a serif font.

And, guess what – it’s another printable in the Just Because series… :)

Just because (32)

Just Because 32 - look at the stars - 8x10 - teal blue - Sprik SpaceWe are unabashed Coldplay fans in the Sprik house.  In fact, our first concert together was theirs, and it’s a fun, fond memory.  We’re also crossing our fingers that they release their new album later this year!

One of my favorite songs of theirs is “Yellow”… and the best phrase from the lyrics just had to be turned into a printable for all of you!  :)

So, here you go – another printable in the Just Because series

BONUS – all colorways are available in both a 5x7 and an 8x10.
