Alphabet Mosaic

We’re still brainstorming ideas for the walls in our dining room Connor’s playroom… yup, we started this project way back in January – the furniture and toys are all in place, the walls were painted, but nothing is hung on them… yet.  I know I want to put some sort of alphabet print (and goodness knows I’ve worked up several!) over his little reading corner, but I’m having trouble deciding which way I want to go. 

Connor’s also at the stage of spotting and pointing out logos and letters everywhere we go, so in brainstorming ideas for a new ABC print, I immediately thought of Leo Reynolds.  I first became familiar with his amazing Flickr photostream after I saw this project last year, and I ended up creating our own name sign for the collage wall, plus several more for family members last Christmas.  Using his images is such a fun, unique, and funky way to create word “art”.

So, I thought I would design a bright and colorful alphabet mosaic… since that’s how Connor’s playroom is turning out to be.  You’ve guessed it – I’m gonna share!  :)

This time around, the printable is available in 4 different sizes – 5x7, 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20!

To download the image(s) for printing, simply click on the image above, and a new window will open to the download locations in 4shared.  Save the image(s) to your computer, and they’re yours!  Just print it out yourself, or upload to your photo printer of choice.  (If you upload to Costco, make sure you choose the full resolution upload and turn off the color correction option.)

Crazy for the alphabet

So far, my alphabet prints seem to be the most popular here on Sprik Space.  This one was a no brainer, since ‘H’ and ‘I’ just go together.  ;)

Just because (20)

I decided to work up another version of the Simple ABCs for Connor’s playroom, using the colors in which we’re doing the room (apple green / red / medium blue), just in case I liked a multi-colored option better.

I saw a similar idea to this online somewhere, and I can’t (for the life of me) remember where.

Then I decided I could make it into a freebie…  :)

This fun one could be displayed not only for Valentine’s Day, but year-round, as well!

Simple ABCs

Just before Christmas, I felt like I was drowning… in a sea of multi-colored toys.  We’d been keeping Connor’s collection in our family room, where we do most of our living, but the sheer amount of toys was beginning to take over, and I was tired of looking at it.  This was all before Christmas, just after his birthday… so you can imagine how I felt after Christmas, with 2 sets of grandparents.
So, we began the process of converting our junk room dining room into Connor’s new playroom.  Since we don’t have much need for a formal dining room at this stage in our family, it made the most sense to give the space a more practical use.  I’ll post pictures once we have it completed… it’s still a work in progress at the moment. 
We have most of the playroom furniture and storage in place, and now comes the fun part… decorating and accessorizing!  Right now, I’m in the middle of planning what will go on the walls.
My favorite store, hands down, for planning kids’ spaces is Land of Nod.  It’s more retro classic than trendy, and it’s my go-to place every time.  Doesn’t hurt that there’s an outlet not too far from my house, either!
I spotted this fun and simple ABC print at their store a couple of months ago.  My first thought was that I could replicate it pretty easily, and that it would fit perfectly on the wall in Connor’s new play space.
I decided to make mine in an 11”x14” size, so that it will easily fit above some simple wall bookshelves we’ll be installing.
Once I worked it up, I decided it was too cute not to share… so, here you go!













Because it only takes me about 5 seconds to change up colors on a printable when I’m in the middle of designing it, it was super-easy for me to create a plethora of options for you.  (I probably went a little overboard on the colorways this time… oh well!)


To download the file(s) of your choice, click on the collage images above on the left and right, and you’ll be directed to their 4shared locations.  Then, just upload to your favorite online photo printer (Costco only charges $2.99 per print of this size!), put it inside an 11”x14” frame, and hang your framed piece on the wall.

Awhile back, I posted a free printable ABC poster based on a similar idea I’d seen posted on Ohdeedoh in April.

I’m very flattered that it was so popular!  I had always intended on making its companion piece… just didn’t think it would take me over 2 months to get to it.  :S

So finally, using the same free Microsoft Clipart as my first project, and my scrapbooking software, I created another free printable, a coordinating Numbers poster:

"Now I know my ABCs..."

On the last Brief Bits, I mentioned this cute ABC poster I had seen on Ohdeedoh.

So, with this video playing in the background (thanks, Maddy!):





…I created my own version using scrapbooking software and free Microsoft Office Clip Art (and yes, I realize it’s quite similar to the idea posted on Ohdeedoh).


And since I LOVE a free printable, I had to share it with you!

While I was at it, I made it into a few different colors…
