While in Arizona, we held our annual birthday party for Connor (2nd) & Uncle Scott (34th) and family Christmas gathering.
I learned my lesson with Connor’s 1st Birthday Party, and kept everything uber-simple this year. Basically, I made sure that I could make ahead and bring all party decorations with me, rather than spend the week running all over town to finalize details. This made for a much more relaxing vacation!
The kids are all still small, so I didn’t worry about activities. Just some tasty appetizers, a yummy lasagna dinner, and birthday cake for dessert… with a family gift exchange afterwards.
No specific theme this year, just a consistent color combo of red and light blue. I ordered Connor’s super-cute birthday shirt from Piccadilly Circus Designs, and my mom made a matching one for Scott ahead of time. Before our trip, I made a bunting for the wall (craft foam with scrapbook paper mod-podged on, strung with ribbon), a bunting for the cake (scrapbook paper, string, skewers), and simple favor tags. (Favors were ordered from here.) The circle garlands were made with dozens of circles punched from scrapbook paper and sewn together by machine.
Uncle Erik decided that since it was Christmas “morning” he’d better come in his pajamas.
This family get-together is definitely the highlight of our trip each year! And, we were able to get a picture of all 12 of us together. :)
