One of the few benefits of Brian’s frequent travel schedule is frequent flyer tickets, so we cashed one in for Grandma Rogers to come visit in April.
We had such a great time during her visit… we ran her ragged, of course, but it was good fun! During her whirlwind 2-week visit, Connor had too many appointments (natch), there was a lot of shopping, and much accomplishing of projects. Brian and I were able to sneak in a couple of date nights. During the final week of her stay, Brian was back to LA, and it was so great having reinforcements here.

Grandma loves tulips, so we made a point to stop at Oakbrook Center after an appointment at Lutheran General for Connor. For the locals – if you haven’t stopped by there in April, just to see their tulips displays, you don’t know what you’re missing! Simply gorgeous! Connor really loved it, too – got to put his hands in dirt for the first time, and even attempted to pick a few of the flowers for himself.
April 14th is an important day for our family… the anniversary of the day Connor was finally released from the hospital! We plan on having a family party to commemorate this happy event each year. So with Grandma Rogers in town, we made a quick visit to the zoo, ate dinner out, and made some decadent cupcakes to celebrate.
Grandma has the best finger plays! Connor’s at the perfect age for them and picked up on many of the movements and gestures super quick. I recorded a couple of them, and as soon as I get them properly edited, they’ll be posted. :)

One morning, we made a quick trip to Wallyworld, picked up a few supplies, and by noon, we had 12 jars of the best strawberry freezer jam ever. Seriously so good!
And the pièce de résistance of Grandma’s visit? Yeah, I’m pretty sure Connor’s laughing at her amazing ball handling...
You’re welcome for the video, Mom, and THANKS FOR COMING TO VISIT! ;)

Hey, didn't realize you had a blog. What a journey with your cute little guy--he is a happy one, it looks like. Just briefly read about hie birth and the NICU and his helmet, etc. You are a great journaler.
