And, we've been planning for it... another hibernation.
To prepare, Connor's had round 1 of 2 of the regular flu shot, and will likely begin his monthly RSV vaccination soon. (No, he won't be receiving the swine flu vaccine this year.)
Brian and I have plans to get our own regular flu shots in the next few weeks (both of us did last year, and the flu bugs skipped our house last season - we were exhausted, stressed out, and traveling to the hospital every single day).
I've tried to coordinate some in-home therapy for Connor through Early Intervention, but they've decided that he's right on track for his adjusted age, and there's no need. We'll reevaluate in a few months. (In the meantime, his private therapy is on hiatus come October.)
We'll be extra careful here, especially to limit Connor's exposure (we already spent 120 days too many in the hospital this past year).
Thanks to Mindi for posting this ever helpful greeting guide (as seen in the NYTimes).

So, if we just wave at you, or seem standoffish, it's nothing personal... we're just practicing germaphobes for the next few months.

It's funny that you just posted this.. I was just barely researching the sicknesses that will be going around in the next few months and how to stay away. Mostly I'm looking for more ways to stay preventative because I'm SO paranoid. Being on oxygen makes getting sick so much more stressful for her. This is going to be a loooong winter season for us!
Love the levels of contact. My brother is in the MTC right now and he said they aren't allowed to shake hands with each other because of Swine Flu risks... so they're doing the elbow thing.
I've been off the map for the last couple of months, but am finally back on schedule and just had the opportunity to catch up on your blog. I'm so excited to see all of Connor's firsts!! So happy to see you guys are doing well. Hugs from UT.
So "no" on the making out then?
I don't want to get the swine flu shot for Crew either. We just got round one of the regular flu and we're trying to get the RSV thing going (but I don't think it will fly this year), but tell me why you won't do the swine flu? I don't feel good or right about it, but I don't know enough about it to say WHY and I know my ped is going to twist my arm next time I go in. He's already warned me that he would...
And congrats on being all caught up!! What a super baby he is!! Yay, Connor!
