Five-second rule

BREAKING NEWS!

The Sydney Morning Herald recently debunked the five-second rule (or three-second rule, as they call it in Australia) as being completely a myth. Apparently, even a nanosecond is long enough for the food you dropped to become completely contaminated with nasty bacteria.

And here I thought we all understood that the five-second rule was just what we told ourselves to keep from getting grossed out when we pick that tasty morsel up off the floor to shove it back in our mouths. Huh.
